New Resource for Tournament Directors & Hosts
By blogger on Mar 5, 2010 | In Wrestling | Send feedback »
This year has been marked with several significant changes for our organization. As those changes have been approved, our staff has worked diligently to create the documentation neccessary to support that change. Our staff is comprised of volunteers who try to balance their home lives, professional lives, and support to our organization. This often results in initial publication of a support document followed up with modifications that are increasingly user friendly and detailed. Such is the case with web page that replaces the downloadable guide for tournament directors and hosts.
The Tournament Directors' Page contains the information from the downloadable guide, links to download the guide, links to downloadable forms, a schedule feed, and other information. If there is something that you would like added as a resource on this page, just send an email to ad@ncwrestling.org and webmaster@ncwrestling.org.
Check out the page, we hope you will find it a valuable resource.

"Time to start getting prepared for the 2010 NCUSAW spring wrestling season. As soon as it is available, I'll be sending you a schedule of spring tournaments. I'll be asking M1s and M2s to start thinking about the tournaments they want to be assigned to and everyone else to plan to attend as many tournaments as possible - as an official and as a competitor if you are still actively wrestling.
Information about renewing your membership has been posted on the USWOA web site since last fall. However, if you have not already done so you should now follow the steps outlined below to renew your USWOA membership for 2010.

State Championship Tips and Tidbits
By Administrative Flunkie on Feb 9, 2010 | In Wrestling | 2 feedbacks »
As the 28th annual Jr. High State Championships, 10th annual Elementary State Championships, and 2nd annual Women's Open State Championships approach everyone is making final plans for the tournament this weekend. Here in the office, we've taken many calls about a variety of subjects. Some come from grizzled veteran coaches who've attended the event many times. Others come from "newbies" who are attending their first big event this weekend! Everyone wants things to go smoothly and for the event to be a fun weekend of wrestling!
To that end, here are a few tips and tidbits that might help answer some questions and make your attendance at this weekend's tournament enjoyable....
Tip 1: KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING- All registration and weigh-ins will be held in the LJVM Education Building. Wrestling will take place at the LJVM Annex for middle school wrestlers and in the LJVM Education Building for the Women's and Elementary divisions (these buildings are side by side). The "official" address of the LJVM Complex is 2825 University Parkway Winston-Salem, NC 27105 (for those who love GPS). If you want some old fashioned directions or some other information about the LJVM facility (parking, area dining options, etc.) visit www.ljvm.com
Tip 2: WHERE TO PARK- We will be using the GATE 5 entrance on Saturday. Wake Forest has a home basketball game Saturday, so parking in the main lot is restricted for that event.
Tip 3: PRINT YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD IF YOU HAVE ONE AND BRING IT TO CHECK-IN- We will be verifying NCUSA and NCAWAY memberships at check-in. Memberships must be purchased before registration. We will NOT be selling memberships at registration. If you do not have a membership, simply bring an additional $10 to registration and you will be taken care of (correct change is greatly appreciated). If you have a membership but are unable to print it, don't worry, we will be able to verify them on-site (verification will take a little longer though!!).
Tip 4: BUY SPECTATOR TICKETS BEFORE SATURDAY MORNING- Spectator tickets are available from Ticketmaster online, and will be for sale Friday during weigh-ins at the Annex Box office. Buying before Saturday morning will allow you to avoid the Saturday morning rush, and should make your entry into the arena go a little quicker Saturday morning.
Tip 5: NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED IN AND BAGS WILL BE SEARCHED GOING IN- Please understand this is LJVM policy for all events. It is not an issue we have control of. It will speed everyone's entry Saturday morning if we can avoid having to delay the bag check line because of food and drinks. If you have team coolers or food, one suggestion is to store the items on your team bus or in a designated team vehicle. Wrestlers may go out of the arena to eat and drink and then return without any issues.
Tip 6: HURRY UP AND WAIT!- This is the motto that any savvy wrestling fan knows when they go to a large tournament. If this is your first experience with tournament wrestling, understand there is method to the chaos taking place in front of you, and eventually your son or daughter WILL get to wrestle. Hopefully things will go smoothly, but sometimes at large tournaments there are unexpected circumstances that can create delays. Veteran tournament goers know that a good seat cushion, a good book, and a good, patient, attitude can make the day go a lot smoother. Plan for a long day, and then if we get done early, you can be pleasantly surprised!
Tip 7: KNOW WHERE TO GET RESULTS- This event is being run using Trackwrestling. BY visiting Trackwrestling online during and after the event you will be able to view brackets, see team scores, and get other statistics from the event. You may also receive real-time results via text or e-mail (additional charges apply) through Trackwrestling. Visit www.trackwrestling.com for more details and information.
These are just a few ideas that will hopefully help you have an enjoyable day of wrestling at this year's State Championships! We wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to a great day of wrestling!

The NC All Stars page has migrated to http://www.ncwrestling.org/ncallstars.html.
The rosters are slowly filling up for the Minion Duals.
This is a great trip at a great price with the opportunity to wrestle the defending national champion dual team. This is a short 5 hour drive for most people in NC.
